Members can attend regular field trips where we search for various gemstones and specimens at allocated fossicking areas. Often the field trips are a combined club event that is usually advertised in the Pointer newsletter with a contacts name and number.
Committee meetings are held at the club rooms (20 Noorong Avenue, Bundoora) on the first Tuesday of each month except for January. All members are entitled to attend committee meetings.
Each Tuesday some members meet and have lunch together as a form of social. (A good reason to get out of the house and meet with friends.) Some cut and polish stones whilst others relax and have a cuppa and a quiet chat.
Through-out the year we hold a number of social events where we usually have a guest speaker who will give a talk about a relevant subject of interest. This is a good opportunity for you to interact and get to know your fellow members and learn about the formation of gems stones, Gemmology and related aspects of lapidary.
Each year we have a Christmas breakup party. This event is usually a lot of fun and is always well attended. We have a Chris cringle where members bring a gift to the value of $5 and people are asked to bring a plate of food to share. Tea, Coffee and soft drinks are provided by the club.
